Twinned spell doubles the impact of your high level spell slots, in a way doubling those slots. Not much you can do here, but the more limited spell list the game will manage will make this a bit worse. They are the two sides of the true arcane casting coin. Wizards and sorcerers share much of the same spells in their spell list.

By having wizards with no limitations, it makes the inmately free sorcerer incredibly same-y. Spell scrolls are also thrown at you like sausages at a hot girl at Bavarian festival. Wizards also shouldn't be able to learn spells outside of their spell list. Wizards can also lose or have their spellbook destroyed. Sorcerers just get it innately and aren't limited in that way. Wizards normally can only learn spells that they can find in a book or learn from someone who can teach them. Empowered twinned disintegrate? Yes please. Especially since it is the one metamagic than can be used with other ones. The missing Empowered - Empowered is what can make the sorcerer a more reliable blaster. Subtle - Subtle spell can be huge for social situations, dealing with enemies with counterspell, as well as silencing or being restrained. You still can, but it merely brings you up to par with attack-based spells now. Area control spells also are weakened by the absurd frog jump. Heightened means you can be one of the best battlefield controllers when you need it. This means attack-based spells (generally damaging) work better than save-based spells (generally control). Heightened - In general, BG3 has diminished AC values for enemies. However, BG3 let's you throw two leveled spells for any caster. Quickened spell is normally what lets you break that. Normally it would have to be a spell and a cantrip, but since most spells and cantrips are actions, it's rare to be able to do that aside from misty step paired with a cantrip. Quickened - normally there's a rule preventing casting a leveled spell your action and another leveled spell with your bonus action in the same turn. Some metamagics are weakened in impact by design choices.Advocate for these changes if you want more differentiation and better balance. There's a number of choices that have driven this.
